Chapter 6
His eyes scanned the breakfast hall for the third time, in an attempt of finding his party. He took a deep calming breath before he began the task again. He had thought the people being seated would have made it easier, but it didn't. He still couldn't deny that having over six hundred people collected in one room was like trying to find Waldo in the midst of talking heads.
“I'm happy to see you managed to break away.”
Beau let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Caspian gliding up to his left.
“Thank goodness you came. I was going to take that chair over there, stand up, and start shouting out your name,” he laughed.
“Yeah, it's a fuckin’ mad house this year,” nodded his friend while he made a full circle around Beau.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Looking for bruising,” replied Caspian.
Beau narrowed his gaze as he regarded his friend. He was aware that Caspian knew Capri. Now he wondered just how well he knew her. He knew she had lovers. Was he one of them?
“I'm happy to see she didn't inflict too much damage. By the way she came riding in on her broomstick this morning, I thought for sure they would have called security up to your room.”
It took at least three thunderous heartbeats before Beau caught on. He felt his raising anger began to fade. He covered up with a bright smile in hopes that his friend wouldn't know just how close he had been to being pulled out of the room for a private chat.
“Imagine my excitement when she walked in my bedroom this morning.”
“Were you alone? No, course not,” his friend laughed. “Damn, I would have loved to have seen that,” he continued to laugh, as he led the way through the close tables and bodies. “I'm sorry she ruined your fun.”
“Monica hasn't ruined anything.”
Caspian stopped in his tracks so fast, Beau collided into him. When he turned around, Beau was gifted with a strange look on his friend's face. It held a combination of awe, envy, and amusement.
“You mean to tell me that you aren't going stop seeing Capri? That you aren’t going to ignore Monica? That you are actually going to make her shut her big mouth?”
Beau didn't answer his friend. Instead, he left him standing there in the middle of the tables. He had seen the person he was there to speak to. Not to mention that Caspian was starting to get to him with his sarcastic comments. He knew that in the past, he had preferred to deal with his ex-wife by just ignoring her. He would just let her bitch and moan until she wore herself out. Then she would leave after she created her havoc. It wasn't as if there wasn't a long list of women at his disposal to move on to. It wasn't as if he even wanted them around for a long period of time, so in a sense, Monica was actually instrumental in the whole process.
